Education and Employment

For most IUPUI students, education and employment go hand-in-hand. Decided on a major but not sure what you can do with it? Have a career in mind but don't know the best academic preparation? In addition to reading information about different majors in the individual schools' sections of the Bulletin, you should talk with your academic advisor, course instructors, and staff in the IUPUI Career Center.

Here are some resources to help you in matching your career goals and academic interests.

Occupational Outlook Handbook Produced by the federal Bureau of Labor Statistics, this index describes the work environment, education requirements, and average salaries for over a thousand career fields.

America's Careers Infonet Contains statistics on salary, job growth, and individual state job markets. Also has guides to the duties and work environments of each job field.

Experience Online with over 300 major employers, including both private and public sector. Numerous company profiles are available as well as other resources for students and young professionals beginning their careers.

IUPUI Campus Day In February and November each year representatives of all of the schools and student services offices meet in an open house format providing both one-on-one opportunities and brief programs on majors, careers, and services. Great for both prospective and current students still considering different majors.

Job Fairs are scheduled throughout the year. They provide a great opportunity for students and employers to meet each other.
